OUTLOOK EMAIL SETUP

Open Outlook 2016.Outlook for Android

Add a new account

Enter your email address, then select Connect or, if your screen looks different, enter your name, email address, and password, and then select Next.Add a new email account

Masonic Mail: iOS

SET UP EMAIL USING THE IOS MAIL APP

Go to your device’s Settings, scroll down and tap Mail > Accounts >Add Account.

STEP 2:
Select Exchange.

Choose Exchange

STEP 3:
Enter your Office 365 email address, password, and a description of your account. Tap Next.

Note: Your email address should be your Office 365 business account or school account. Such as @yourdomain.com, @domain.onmicrosoft.com, or @schoolname.edu.

STEP 4:
If you’re prompted to enter server settings, enter the following and tap Next.

  • Email: your full email address.
  • Server: outlook.office365.com.
  • Username: your full email address.
  • Password: email account password.

STEP 5:
The Mail app may request certain permissions such as accessing your calendar and contacts. To agree, tap Yes.

Then choose the apps you want your email account to sync with your iOS device and tap Save.

STEP 6:
Now you’re all set to go!

Masonic Mail: Android

SET UP EMAIL IN THE OUTLOOK FOR ANDROID APP

Open Outlook for Android. The icon looks like this:

If you haven’t already, you can download Outlook for Android from the Google Play Store.

Tap Get Started if it’s your first time.

Or, go to Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account.

Go to Settings

Select Add Account

Enter your full email address, then tap Continue.

Note: If you’re asked to select your email provider, you may have to set up an IMAP or POP account.

Enter your email address.

Enter your email account password and tap Sign In or Next.

Note: The sign in screen may look different for you depending on your email provider.

If you have 2-step verification turned on, identify yourself using the method you chose (6 digit code, phone, or using the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Note: Are you being prompted to set up two-step verification? See Set up 2-step verification for Office 365 or use the Microsoft Authenticator app for easy verification.

Outlook may request permission to access your calendar, contacts, etc. Tap Yes or Allow.

You’re now ready to use Outlook for Android!

INSTALL AND SET UP OFFICE ON AN ANDROID

If you have a free Microsoft account or a work or school account with a qualifying Office 365 subscription, you’ll have access to the app’s extra features.

SET UP OFFICE APPS FOR THE FIRST TIME:

Tap any Office app like Word to launch it.

Tap Sign in if you already have a Microsoft Account or an Office 365 work or school account.

Note: Or create a new Microsoft Account with any email address you already have by tapping Sign up for free.

Choose Sign in or Sign up for free

Enter your personal Microsoft account or an Office 365 work or school account email address. Tap Next.

Note: For a new Microsoft Account, create a password and then follow the prompts to verify your identity.

Tap Start using Word to get started with the app.

If you have other Office apps installed on your Android device, your account and OneDrive files will be automatically added.

To add another account, tap Open (or Open other documents if you’re on a tablet) > Add a place.

If you are using OneNote, tap Settings > Accounts.

Choose the cloud service you want to add, such as OneDrive for business or Dropbox.

Choose your cloud service.Enter your email address and password that you use to sign into that service.

You’re done!


Officer/Committee Mail: Desktop

If you are using Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016, Your officer / committee mailbox will appear when you sign in with your regular masonic email.

How to Set Up Shared Email Using IMAP

If you use a desktop email program, you can configure it to access your shared mailbox using IMAP.

Note: If you use Thunderbird you need to subscribe to the shared mailbox.

Generic IMAP configuration settings

Incoming server settings

  • Name: shared mailbox name
  • Email address: shared_mailbox@connetquot838.org
  • Incoming server: outlook.office365.com
  • User name: your Masonic ID@connetquot838.orgshared_mailbox_name
  • Password: your Masonic ID password
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Required
  • Port: 993

Outgoing server settings

  • Outgoing server: smtp.office365.com
  • Server requires authentication: Yes
  • User name: your Masonic ID
  • Password: your Masonic ID password
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Required
    Note: For Outlook, specify TLS rather than SSL
  • Port: 587

Subscribe to a shared mailbox in Thunderbird

  1. Select the mail account from the left column.
  2. Right-click your mail account name and then click Subscribe.
  3. You will see all the available IMAP folders on the server.  Select the ones that you want to add to your mail client and then click Subscribe.
  4. Click OK. The new folders are now available.
Officer/Committee Mail: iOS

How To: Access an Office 365 shared mailbox on iOS

Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > Add Account. From the choices available, go to the bottom and choose “Other” to manually set up the shared mailbox account.

On the Other screen, select “Add Mail Account.” In the new screen, you will enter:

  • Name – The name that will be displayed to recipients on email
  • Email – The shared mailbox’s email (e.g., webmaster@connetquot838.org)
  • Password – Your Masonic email password
  • Description – Anything you choose to describe the account on your device

Select “Next” to get to the full settings. Make sure that at the top of the new screen the type of account highlighted is IMAP.

Scroll down to the “Incoming Mail Server” section, where you will enter:

  • Host Name – outlook.office365.com
  • User Name – [Your Masonic ID]@connetquot838.org/the shared mailbox’s name (e.g., m121958@connetquot838.org/webmaster)
  • Password – Your Masonic email password

Scroll down again to the “Outgoing Mail Server” section, where you will enter:

  • Host Name – smtp.office365.com
  • User Name – [Your Masonic ID]@connetquot838.org
  • Password – Your Masonic email password

Select “Next” and wait for the server to verify your settings. When complete, you will be presented with the option of what you want to sync. Make your choices, and select “Save.”

Now you will find the shared account in your Mail app, under Mailboxes, with the description name you gave it.

Office/Committee Mail: Android

How To: Access an Office 365 shared mailbox on Android

NOTE: Each Android device has its own native mail app – this will result in some difference between field names and order. The information below has been verified across Samsung, HTC, and Sony devices.


Go to Settings and then add an account under the Accounts settings.

From the list of types, select your device’s native mail app. This is usually called just “Mail” or “Email.” Do NOT choose Exchange ActiveSync.

On the first screen, enter:

  • Email address – The shared mailbox’s email (e.g., webmaster@connetquot838.org)
  • Password – Your personal email password

Select “Manual Setup” to go to the detailed incoming mail settings, and enter:

  • Type of account/Protocol – IMAP
  • Username – [Your Masonic ID]@connetquot838.org/the shared mailbox’s name (e.g., m121958@connetquot838.org/webmaster)
  • Email address – If it doesn’t carry over from the previous screen, re-enter the shared mailbox’s email (e.g., webmaster@connetquot838.org)
  • Password – If it doesn’t carry over from the previous screen, re-enter your personal email password
  • IMAP Server – outlook.office365.com
  • Security Type – SSL
  • Port – Leave as is

Select “Next.” It will take a moment to check the server settings, and then to go to the detailed outgoing mail settings. Enter:

  • Username – [Your Masonic ID]@connetquot838.org
  • Password – If it doesn’t carry over from the previous screen, re-enter your personal email password
  • SMTP Server – smtp.office365.com
  • Security Type – TLS/TLS (accept all certificates)
  • Server Port – Leave as is
  • Checkbox to require login – Make sure it is checked

Select “Next.” It will take a few moments for the server to connect and the sync to start.

When it does, you may be prompted to choose your account options. Pick whatever fits your needs.

To finish, you will be prompted to select a name for the mailbox and to enter the name that will appear in the From field when you send mail (e.g., Shared Husky).

Now the shared mailbox should appear as an additional account in your mail app.

You can reset your password by going to the Password Reset Portal or contacting webmaster@connetquot838.org
